A World Space Week Event!
Enjoy the movie In Saturn’s Rings and join Jim O’ Leary for a fun Saturn activity!
The activity is: Beaded Solar System! You’ll construct and calculate a scale model of the Solar System using beads and string. You’ll observe the relative distances of the Sun, planets, asteroid belt and dwarf planet Pluto and gain an understanding of the vast distances between planets in the outer Solar System compared with those in the inner Solar System. We’ll also introduce the idea of the speed of light, how fast it is and how fast it takes light to travel from the Sun to each planet … and beyond.
This activity is great for ages 8 to 12. A supply list will be sent to participants in advance, so please register for this event today!
